REVIEW | John Frieda Smooth Start Shampoo and Conditioner

I've been on the lookout for a decent shampoo and conditioner for a while and I've found two lines of haircare that are specifically for my hair type - frizzy, temperamental and wavy. I will be reviewing both of these so this blogpost is kind of part one of two. Hey ho, lets get on with it.

I was previously a die hard fan of the Aussie range but have recently found it to be a little ineffective, Aussie is a great brand but I don't know, it was lacking something. Or rather my hair was. My issue is that my hair refuses to stay in its style and ultimately will always end up going a little frizzy - or expanding to be more precise, ech. It doesn't particularly help that I live in a seaside town and the sea mist is forever looming.

I've noticed a few brands with shampoo's specifically targeting my hair type recently, I was probably just completely ignorant to them beforehand, I don't know. The first of these brands is John Frieda (As you can tell from the title, duh.).

I've always loved John Frieda products but have never really branched into trying their Shampoo's or Conditioners, I have no idea why, just never have. Until now, I've been using the John Frieda Smooth Start Hydrating Shampoo and Conditioner for about a week now and I think I've got enough use to give you a proper review of them.

Firstly, they aren't lying when they say hydrating! My God. My hair is about as dehydrated as they come, bleached with peroxide and constantly abused by heat, it's not in the best of shape. I noticed instantly after using the John Frieda combination that my hair was far more manageable and smooth. Easier to straighten and in general just very hydrated.

One thing I noticed particularly is how runny the formula of the conditioner is, this may sound like a bit of a pain but I really liked it as you don't need to use much, it king of feels like your smoothing milk through your hair. Okay that sounds weird, but it's actually quite nice.

And for how it keeps my hair? I wash my hair perhaps every day and a half, if I'm lazy I'll leave it longer. Realistically, I could go for about 3 days in between washes with my normal shampoo but I'm just in a routine. Unfortunately, that is a downside to this shampoo, I guess because it is so moisturising you can't leave your hair for too long without the natural oils overwhelming it. I don't find it too much of a problem because like I said  I wash my hair quite frequently but I should say I have VERY thick hair. It can withstand a lot of product, but this product still managed to make me feel like I look a little oily after 2 days. But again, that's not the biggest issue in the world.

Overall I'm thoroughly impressed with this shampoo and will be looking into buying it again.
Also, if you're interested in giving it a look-see, all John Frieda products are 3 for £10 at ASDA at the moment! Hope this was helpful and I'll speak with you all soon!
