To add to the sheer abundance of posts in the blogesphere about this mascara I decided to share my opinion, let you know how it worked out for me. The Maybelline Volum' Express Rocket really caught my attention, mainly because my all time favourite mascara is from the same line, it's the Maybelline Volum' Express One by One. Don't even get me started on the whole Volum' thing, where is the 'e'?! Anyhow, with that in mind I had high hopes for this mascara before I'd read a single review, and then after I had my hopes just grew that this might be a new holy grail product. Plus, I way prefer this packaging to the One by One.
I really like the brush, plastic, which I prefer and the bristles are a nice length in order to seperate. Good job Maybelline.
The result is quite good, it lengthens the lashes for sure, but what I look for in a mascara more is thickening. I have fairly long separated lashes anyway so my real criteria consists of three things: darkness, thickness, drying time. This is for sure a very deep black and I'm happy with that, but that's the easiest thing to achieve so it's not all too impressive. For me, this doesn't provide the level of thickness I want a mascara to, and in that sense doesn't live up to other mascara's I own. But it is nice nonetheless, perhaps for a more understated eye.
One compliment I can give it is that it reminds me of one of my beloved high end mascara's, the Clinique High Impact, it's just the brush and formula that are a little different. Provides the same results though.
Felt so weird putting on mascara and nothing else, oh well. Me being lazy.
What really does annoy me about this though is just how wet the formula is, I prefer dry mascara's to begin with but this is just so thin and liquidated that it takes forever to dry and I find myself having to wipe of transfer from my lids about 5 minutes after I have applied. It's annoying.
Hope you enjoyed and perhaps found this a help!
